Dell XPS 13, XPS 13 2-in-1, Upgraded With Intel ‘Tiger Lake’ Processors


INTRO: Just days after launching its current-generation XPS 13 lineup in India, Dell has refreshed variety of these laptops, including the XPS 13 2-in-1, XPS 13 and XPS 13 Developer Edition, with Intel’s Tiger Lake processors and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. They are also the primary Dell laptops to supply Intel Evo certification, which suggests they run a minimum of nine hours on one charge and wake from sleep in under a second.

Apart from that, the new 2020 XPS machines retain their respective predecessors’ chassis and thermal design components, but the corporate still isn’t offering buyers the power to upgrade RAM, storage and Wi-Fi card. While the quality XPS 13 and 2-in-1 models run Windows 10, the Developer Edition is pre-loaded with Ubuntu 20.04LTS.

XPS 13 Features and Specifications

The Dell XPS 9310 2-in-1 is that the top-of-the-line offering within the lineup and features a 13.4-inch InfinityEdge 16:10 touch display in FHD+ (1920×1200) and 4K UHD+ (3840×2400) options. Both variants are Dolby Vision-certified, offer a peak brightness of 500 nits and are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. However, while the UHD+ version supports HDR400, the latter misses out on the feature.

In terms of processors, buyers can choose from a slew of Intel’s 11th-gen Core ‘Tiger Lake’ chips, including the Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7. RAM options range from 8 GB to 32 GB LPDDR4X 4267MHz, while storage options include 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSDs. All variants accompany the Maglev keyboard, an influence button that doubles-up as a fingerprint reader and an infrared webcam that supports Windows Hello-based face recognition .

Thermal design components include dual fans built out of carbon liquid polymer, while a 51Whr battery keeps the lights on. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1 and therefore the aforementioned Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi 6 chipset, while wired connectivity options include a Thunderbolt 4 port alongside a microSD card reader and a 3.5mm combo audio socket.

 Price and Availability

The laptop is priced starting at $1,249.99, while the XPS 13 begins at $999. Dell hasn’t revealed pricing of the Developer Edition yet. They will be available within the US and Canada from September 30, with global availability starting within the following weeks.
