INTRO: OnePlus is wasting no time and is now allowing OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro users to try out the latest Android 11 Beta 1, which was released just yesterday. OnePlus 8 series of smartphones join the ranks of Google Pixel phones as one of the first to let its users try out all the new Android features. The new build is available right now via OnePlus Forums as a part of its Developer Preview program.
As this is the first-ever public release of Android 11 build of OxygenOS, it has quite a lot of bugs. The thing to be noticed is that the beta version is not intended for the general user. Below mentioned is the list of known bugs till now which have been found are:
- All data will be cleared while flashing the build
- Face unlock is unavailable
- Google Assistant (“OK Google”) does not work
- Video calling does not work
- Certain UI screens look less than desirable
- Some apps may not function as expected
- System stability issues
Also, along with all of that, there exists a risk of bricking your phone if you are not used to flashing experimental builds in the device. More importantly, it is worth noticing that the build is not compatible currently with the T-Mobile and all the Verizon variants of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro devices.
The installation process is quite similar to how you can usually do with Oxygen OS beta builds – that is local upgrade. Before you could proceed further, you just have to make sure you have at least 30 percent of battery and 3GB of free storage.
If you have OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro, you have to download the suitable zip file to your phone, go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Local upgrade. Do not forget to backup your data before proceeding with the upgrade as it erases all the contents.
If you are one of the developers interested to check app compatibility with OxygenOS that is based on Android 11, head to the forum below for download links.
