BSNL has planned to upgrade in 4G in all four regions like North, South, East, and West. MTNL has plans to modernize almost 7,000 in Delhi and Mumbai Circle.
Other companies like Nokia, ZTE, Ericsson and ITI have also participated in the ninth bid of BSNL.
Chinese manufacturer Huawei didn’t propose its tender for the 4G sites of BSNL.
Samsung Is The Wireless Tech Vendor:
Samsung’s participation in the bid has surprised everyone. Samsung has already teamed up with Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio and is the wireless tech vendor of Reliance Jio. Also, Samsung doesn’t have 2G, 3G technology and IMS.
Since the absence of 2G and 3G technology, Samsung might face difficulty if BSNL asks for 2G and 4G baseband units in the same cell site. In the event, Samsung will just be able to overlay.
BSNL To Extend Date For Vendors:
Previously, BSNL had said that 8th May will the last day to apply for the contract of BSNL 4G degradation. But due to the Coronavirus, Government has announced a 21-day lockdown. It is expected that the state-owned telecom operator will extend the dates of applying for the contract.

Nearly 43,000 Sites Will Be Upgraded:
It is expected that nearly 43,000 sites will be upgraded to 4G sites. Apart from this, MTNL will also install 7,000 new sites in Delhi and Mumbai Circle. Also, telecom gear vendors will have to annually maintain 4G networks along with network planning, supply and many more.
